Wow your friends and relatives during the holiday season with these easy-to-make Phyllo Appetizer Bites!
Phyllo cups can be made up to a week prior, and filled before serving.
PHYLLO CUP INGREDIENTS:
2 tablespoons Smart Balance® Buttery Spread Original
6 sheets frozen phyllo dough, thawed
FILLING INGREDIENTS:
3 tablespoons Smart Balance® Buttery Spread Original
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 cup Smart Balance™ Fat Free Milk and Omega-3s & Vitamin E
2 teaspoons instant chicken bouillon granules
¼ cup diced cooked turkey or chicken breast meat
2 tablespoons frozen green peas, thawed
¼ cup roasted red peppers
Dash cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley, optional
30 minutes
5 minutes or until golden

TO MAKE PHYLLO CUPS: 1. Heat 1 tablespoon of the Smart Balance buttery spread in a medium saucepan over medium heat. 2. Sauté the onion and garlic 5 minutes or until onions are translucent, stirring frequently. 3. Stir in the artichokes, reduce the heat to medium low, and stir in the Sour Cream, Smart Balance™ Milk and cayenne pepper. 4. Cook 3 minutes or until heated thoroughly. 5. Remove from heat, stir in the parmesan cheese and remaining Smart Balance® Buttery Spread. Makes 24 shells total Tip: Store up to one week in airtight container in single layer; do not stack. |

TO MAKE FILLING: 1. Heat the Smart Balance® Buttery Spread in a medium skillet over medium heat. 2. Whisk in flour, slowly whisk in the Smart Balance™ Milk and bouillon granules. 3. Bring to a boil, and continue boiling 1 full minute. 4. Remove from heat, stir in the remaining ingredients, except the parsley. Makes 24 filled shells total. Per serving (tart shell included in analysis): 39 calories, 2g fat, 1g saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 1g polyunsaturated fat, 1g monounsaturated fat, 75mg Omega-3 fatty acids, 570mg Omega-6 fatty acids, 2mg cholesterol, 114mg sodium, 4g carbohydrate, 0g fiber, 1g protein Look for additional sweet & savory filling recipes on the site! |
