Description:

Grilled NY Strip Steak

Difficulty: Easy

Course: Dinner

Main Ingredient: Beef

Smart Balance Product:
Smart Balance® Cooking Oil

Ingredients:

12oz NY Strip steak

Prep Time:

1 hour

Cook Time:

12 minutes

Yield/Notes:

The salt is important but can be omitted. The salt breaks down the meat and draws water out of the steak giving you a more tender and flavorful steak. You'll never need to salt your steak again and this turns 'ok' cuts into GREAT cuts.

STEP 1:

Salt the steak HEAVILY(use only coarse sea salt)

STEP 2:

Add chopped rosemary and fresh garlic on top of the salt and let the steak rest for 45mins to 1 hour

STEP 3:

Rinse the steak of salt, rosemary, and garlic, then pat dry

STEP 4:

Oil the grate and grill with direct high heat until desired temp.
(2" NY Strip should take 5-6min each side for medium rare/rare)

STEP 5:

Let the steak rest for 5mins before serving.

STEP 6:

Enjoy!

Hi jdoria,

Yes it's a typo! Rinse the steak clean of salt and pat completely dry before grilling.

Don't by shy with the salt either! It should be a coating. Most of the salt will wash away when you rinse the meat.

I will try this recipe but what do you mean by "rise" the steak? Is it a typo and you mean rinse? Want to make sure because I do not want to do anything that would lose it"s flavor.

This herb and garlic rub was absolutely fabulous!! Best steak I've ever had (and I've had a LOT of steak)!! Definitely keeping this on the menu.

This makes an awesome steak! Upload the recipe for corn and asparagus too!
